00400	In one of my previous articles, I expressed the belief that the world

00800	view  of  writers  who  concerned  themselves  with  the  future, but
00900	recently more pessimistic views have been widely expressed.  The most
01000	extreme of these asserts that even the present level of technology is
01100	a temporary phenomenon, and  that  the  resources  do  not  exist  to
01200	continue   more  than  500,000,000  people  for  a  long  time  in  a
01300	technological civilization.
